John Foust is employed as a Special Assistant to the Chief of the the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C. He has previously worked as a senior-level manger in the training division, in the department's Professional Development Bureau. Prior to moving to Washington, Mr. Foust was the director of the Del Mar Regional Police Academy in Corpus Christi, Texas. He began his career in law enforcement in New Mexico in 1978. He holds a bachelor's degree in criminology and a master's degree in criminal justice. He teaches classes part time in criminal justice for the University of Maryland University College and the University of Maryland, College Park.
