Copernicus

Known as the first intellectual to claim that the earth revolved around the sun, this study places Copernicus' theories within the social, political, religious, and intellectual context of the 15th century. Ivan Crowe outlines Copernicus' childhood and education, discusses those who influenced him as he grew up, those that patronised him and encouraged him to pursue his ideas on astronomy, his medical training, his career within the church, and of course his astronomical theories, which are relevant still today.
