The elders, Grazmach and Bashay were neighbors, friends and eventually business partners. When they felt it was time to retire, they gave the responsibility of running their joint establishment to their first-borns, Tesfom and Habtom. The story, with its avalanche of events continued for 21 years from 1952 to 1973. Unfortunately, these sad tragedies were not the only results of the rivalry and obduracy of the main protagonists. The first book's narrative ended before we knew what would happen to the protagonists, Tesfom and Habtom; the wives, Medhn, Alganesh and Almaz and the children and lovers, Bruk and Kbret.
