Law in the United States has been evolving over hundreds of years and is now intertwined with technology, computers, the internet, and information systems. Cyberlaw affects everything people and organizations do, in their traditional and digital spaces.

Existing law gets applied to the new circumstances technology brings, and new laws are created to fill gaps and address issues such as cybercrime, cybersecurity, and privacy. Cybercrime is rampant and allows theft from thousands of miles away. Privacy is a critical concern as data about us and our habits is collected, sold, and used.
