Luckily for Sydney, she is not left alone to play Max's game. Garon Sloan is the gruff FBI agent who captured Max before, and his newest assignment is the toughest he'll face to keep Sydney safe, and to return Max to custody.

Agent Sloan's brutish personality, mixed with Sydney's gentle demeanor, set them instantly at odds with each other. But hate swiftly turns to love, and the two find each other more alike than different. Suddenly, though, Max begins to leave a trail of victims, and love is put on hold to chase a killer. When Sydney disappears, Agent Sloan finds himself in a race against time, to save her, and to keep a terrible history from repeating itself for him.
