For many years esoteric offers for lifestyle and interpretation of life have played an important role in the worldview market. Esotericism has long since ceased to be a marginal phenomenon for some eccentrics, but rather a factor to be taken seriously. While the large churches are losing members, many people are being attracted to esoteric offers, and there is no end in sight to this trend. In many places in everyday life one encounters the phenomenon of esotericism. Jens Schnabel examines the image of man in current esoteric orientation offers. This is done through a comprehensive presentation of the anthropological statements in the works of representative esoteric authors. In addition to the presentation and theological reflection, the author poses the question of reasons for the genesis and boom of the esoteric image of man as well as possible consequences for the Christian churches.
