The emotional fallout from their last case has left DCI de Silva and DS Barclays lives in tatters. Barclays marriage has failed and de Silva tries to piece together whether she knew who her husband was at all. As the detectives struggle to find a way to balance their personal lives with their work, the case theyre working on is taken over by the National Crime Agency and theyre reassigned to a cold case. The body, found months ago in the Formby woods, is just the beginning. As the detectives link the crime to other cold cases, and yet more bodies are found, they find themselves asking: is the past better left buried?
