This book brings into dialogue two of the most important figures of the Latin American and universal Catholic Church: Ignacio Ellacuría and Pope Francis, and it's the the result of a personal and collaborative study by a group of specialists in the thought of the Jesuit Ignacio Ellacuría, rector of the Central American University José Simeón Cañas (UCA), who was assassinated by the army in El Salvador in 1989. The aim of the book is to show the relevance and inspirational nature of his work, as well as to contrast it with the social thought of Pope Francis, reviewing the similarities, differences and complementarities between the two. These are two immense figures of the Latin American and universal Catholic Church: an intellectual and a pastor, a martyr and a pope. The fifteen authors of this work come from countries as varied as Spain, the United States, Germany, Colombia, El Salvador and Mexico, but they are all united by the desire to analyze contemporary historical reality in order to understand it, transform it and bring it closer to the Kingdom of God.
