Dead Drunk

Paul Garrigan travelled to Thailand with the intention of drinking himself to death. He had been a chronic alcoholic for the previous decade and had destroyed his own life and the lives of those around him. Now he was ready to die. It was in Bangkok in the most unlikely of places that he heard of Wat Thamkrabok, a Buddhist monastery in northern Thailand that offered radical treatments to alcoholics and drug addicts. Believing this was his last chance, Garrigan spent some time with the monks detoxing, and then went on to rebuild his life. "Dead Drunk" is a memoir of alcoholism.
