Rhodes has published five books, a number of chapbooks, been featured in multiple anthologies and collections and has written over fifty book reviews for outlets across Canada. Thus, some press can be expected for the book. Issues around treatment of Indigenous people are prominent in North American conversations in media and academia. In the vein of A. Van Jordan's M-A-C-N-O-L-I-A: Poems and Adrian Matejka's The Big Smoke, two poetry titles that rework source material to make powerful statements about the history of race and achievement in the United States. Rhodes reworks scientific texts in addition to newspaper clippings and his scope extends beyond individuals and singular events. This book deals with colonization, history and race, so it may be of interest to people interested in history, race politics, colonial and post-colonial studies, science and travel.
