In the early years of the 19th century, before the Great Famine, a disparate group of Irish immigrants congregated around the church of St Patrick, in the tumult of Edinburgh's Old Town. They brought to this 'Little Ireland' a riot of living, of love and of heartbreak. Many stories were to play out against this rich backdrop.
