Design Basis Tropical Cyclone for Nuclear Power Plants

This guide describes first the general characteristics of tropical cyclones with particular emphasis on their pressure and wind structures. The collection of information, the data sources and requirements are treated in some detail. The subsequent sections deal with a description of the procedures available for evaluating the probable maximum tropical cyclone (PMTC), including deterministic and probabilistic approaches for determining the pressure at the eye of a tropical cyclone.
