»The Origins of the Insurance Supervision in Germany and Italy from an Historical-Comparative Perspective«: The author analyses and compares the historical development of the insurance supervision in Germany and Italy. For both countries the analysis focuses not only on the insurance supervisory regulations in the proper sense, but also on early regulations with supervisory character or on ones that show first signs of an intent of the state to introduce an insurance supervision. In this way it is possible to identify the origins of the insurance supervisory legislation in the two countries.
