This is a survey of Washington, D.C.'s increasing role as a modern city at the forefront of American digital culture. While the city has historically been a repository for massive amounts of government information, and military developments in the capitol helped give birth to some of the most important digital developments in decades, the city's transition toward becoming a booming center with a generation of tech-savvy professionals is relatively recent.
