Disciples of Jesus

This book takes the reader back in time to the most important era of human history, the brief thirty-three years when Christ dwelt among men. In these pages, you will read the biographical sketches of thirty men, women, and children who loved and served the Lord Jesus. You will see these disciples through the eyes of Christ, and also see the Lord Jesus through the eyes of His disciples. Marvel with Simeon and Anna as they hold, in their aged arms, the Messiah of Israel. Listen to John the Baptist as he preaches by the River Jordan. Visit the silent chamber of death in Capernaum and see our Lord restore life to the wasted form of the young daughter of Jairus, making that dark room a chamber of joy. Learn from Martha and Mary of Bethany how Jesus taught them to strike the Biblical blend between diligent labor and sincere piety. Hear the sharp crowing of the rooster with Peter and weep bitterly as you realize that, while you have been unmindful of Christ, He has not been unmindful of you. Stand beside Mary the Mother of Jesus as her son is nailed to a Roman Cross outside Jerusalem. Walk with Mary Magdalene and Salome through the predawn stillness to behold the wonder of the empty tomb. Follow stalwart men like Andrew, Nathanael, and Thomas into the book of Acts and then onward to their noble martyrdom and learn what became of these men as they obeyed their Lord's final command to go into all the world and make disciples. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full" (I John 1:3-4).
