Division

Division is a novel set along the Gustav Line in Italy during WWII. When the German's retaliate with a massacre against a man leading partisans' operations, a German major decides to save the life a young girl; the daughter of the man who led the partisans. The novel follows the story of the father, Giacomo, in his desperate search for his daughter who was taken from him. When Giacomo finally finds his daughter, she denies her relation to him, wanting to keep the life with her wealthy new family.The story explores the impact of war on families, and that wars do not end when the fighting ends; they affect people's identities for generations to come.
