It is 1928 in a small rural farming community where New York borders Connecticut. Dolly is about to graduate from high school with big plans for her future, but when her mother and older sister each file for their divorces, the whole family is forced to answer some hard questions. Amidst the background of the Great Depression and the battle for women's voting rights, Dolly's allegiance to each parent is tested.
