This series uses dramatic aspects and effects of weather to develop geographical skills such as using the correct vocabulary, using maps, plans and secondary sources of information. Each book in the series: looks at what the phenomenon is, where and why it occurs and its effects; emphasises that weather extremes have the same causes as weather that we experience every day; discusses how people defend their homes and adapt their lifestyle to cope; and, contains maps and plans.
