Ear And Brain

This book introduces basic phenomena of sound and music perception to a general audience. The book pulls together findings from perceptual and cognitive psychology, neurophysiology, and human brain function (both normal and abnormal) to examine the ways in which we form perceptual images of sound, analyze musical patterns, and attend to and retain sounds in memory. It explores the use of sound in communication, both animal and human, and discusses the various relationships between speech and music.
