C. H. Turner's Ecclesiae Occidentalis Monumenta Iuris Antiquissima is a collection of Latin translations of Greek canons and conciliar decrees from the period AD 325- 883. The original Greek collections served as the basic law of the Orthodox Church and this collection reflects the Latin Church's attempts to create a coherent canon law of its own. The translations here trace the development of Latin canon law and demonstrate its relations to Byzantine ecclesiastical law.
