This is the story of Joan and Carlos and their struggle to develop a conscience in the robosoldiers that threaten them, and of their grandmother and her commitment to helping others, especially climate refugees trying to survive. But Lieutenant Cus, deluded by the myth of his own superiority and right to dominance, is on their trail and will give them no quarter when he finds them.
