Based on a career in politics and education, the author addresses the key issues facing American educators today. The book challenges the myths and misconceptions citizens have about our schools and the narrow special interests of those running our schools, which have led to academic stagnation and decline in our international academic rankings.

The book takes on both the educational "establishment" which opposes needed, research-based change, and the so-called "reformers who have put forth ideas and concepts which have received much publicity, but have resulted in little positive change.
