The establishment of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) led to movement of people from outside Ogbomoso into the town. This study evaluates the effect of the establishment of LAUTECH on the quantitative housing demand in Ogbomoso. The administration of questionnaires focuses on the socio-economic characteristics of the respondents, housing quality and the responses of the respondents on the housing rents, factors responsible for the high rent and so on. The study examines the factors responsible to the increase in the quantitative housing demand in Ogbomoso, high rent and shortage of housing supply. The housing demand exceeds housing supply due to increase in the student intake as well as the increase in the staffs' population. Non-residency policy of the institution followed by the landlord's decision on house rent without institution management intervention and any form of rent control has been a major factor to high house rent. Researcher suggests that decision making that will attract increase in population in any locality need to be based on thorough understanding of the complex interactions between different elements within the system.
