Reconstruction of the maxillofacial region poses tremendous challenges to the maxillofacial surgeon. Recent advances with the use of Platelet rich plasma(PRP) in the last decade or so has provided the maxillofacial surgeon and other reconstructive surgeons a complete new dimension.Athough a varied number of reconstructive options are available to the clinician,most of them are allogenic.Platelet rich plasma (PRP) overcomes such shortcomings in clinical practice as it is completely autogenous as contains a plethora of growth factors like PGDF,ILGF,TGF etc which play an integral part in regeneration and healing of human bone including soft tissue.
