The relationship of homiletics to psychology in the last few decades has essentially been limited to the transmission of a few models adopted in the 1970s and 1980s. Winfried Glatz takes up the homiletic reception of psychological concepts again and examines the question of whether and how suggestions for homiletics can be obtained from psychotherapeutic approaches. In this context, he works on a deficit in sermon theory that has surprisingly not been discussed so far and provides concrete and theory-based indications of what constitutes an effective sermon - thanks to his competent knowledge of a little-known area of the psychotherapeutic schools. In doing so, the author clearly reflects on what his contribution to the debate is and what its limits are.
