The Ekpe fraternity of the Efik of West Africa has been known as the governing body in ancient Efik society.
To the less informed it was looked upon as a form of religion among the Efiks.
The Abakua among the Cubans, and a similar fraternity among the Brazilians was a good attempt to transfer Ekpe (Efik) by the slaves across the Atlantic.
Within these covers for the first time in history, some of the theosophical aspects of Ekpe are brought to light. Just like Masonry has been mistakenly labeled as a religion by the ignorant, so too because of the theosophy in Ekpe, it too has been likened to a religion of the ancient and even present day Efiks.
This book will be of great interest to all but especially the anthropologist, sociologist and ancient historian.
