Electromagnetic Response of Atomic Nuclei

The book presents the understanding of the structure and dynamics of atomic nuclei in terms of nucleons, pions, and quarks within a unified treatment of the nuclear response to an electromagnetic probe. With reference to a wide bibliography the most relevant data and models are reviewed and the question of how composite particles such as a proton or a neutron behave in a nuclear environment is answered within present knowledge.
