Jack Michaels and Sarah Garvey stand in stark contrast to the coddled college students whose academic experience rarely intersects with brutal reality. Twenty years after the devastating 1967 Detroit riots, they are recruited by their advisor to secure evidence disputing the official findings of the Kerner Commission of 43 deaths.Their innocent inquiry triggers a barrage of bizarre life-threatening events from a cabal of prominent city officials determined to conceal their misdeeds; a wealthy sociopath, who considers violence an aphrodisiac; and, an elusive serial killer hell bent on revenge for disturbing his lair.
