Essentials of Hydrogeology

Hydrogeology is a field of significant national importance, as it plays a critical role in identifying water resources and developing sustainable management strategies for groundwater use. However, the rapid population growth and urbanization have led to the over-exploitation of groundwater, resulting in scarcity. Additionally, new challenges such as seawater intrusion and the identification of suitable artificial recharge mechanisms to replenish depleting water levels are increasingly being addressed by a broad range of stakeholders. This book primarily aims to provide comprehensive information on the subject of Hydrogeology, with a focus on geological concepts. The emergence of advanced techniques such as GIS, Remote Sensing, and GPS, coupled with the power of modern information technology, has opened up new avenues for integrated groundwater studies. Therefore, this book also aims to introduce GIS modeling and related works in this field.
