Factors affecting poultry embryo quality

Summary: It is fact that metabolic differences in relation to genetic selection or maternal flock age usually occur during the plateau stage of oxegen consumption (from embryonic age day 17 to 19 in chickens and 24 to 26 days in turkeys during incubation. Hence, the potential for higher embryonic mortality also increases during the later periods of incubation. In addition, there are molecular and cellular implications about altering environmental factors before and during incubation. Therfore, management stratgies need to be at their best to increase poultry chick quality and reduce embryonic mortality.
