The wind-swept prairie provided a gentle start to Priscilla's life while her father pastored a tiny church in the early nineteen-sixties. As they descended deeper into the isolation of their religious culture, mental illness shrouded the family's ability to make decisions and threatened to destroy them. Bound by rules and a controlling fear of the outside world, Priscilla faces a terrifying journey. Would she be the first in her family to leave the Emmanuel Circle of Churches or be paralyzed with a lack of courage? Would her faith be intact if she did take the risk and survive? Faith Set Free is the story of growing up in a cult-like church and seeking emancipation twenty-five years later--exploring the real-life challenges of breaking free from oppression in the pursuit of true joy and hope.

Forever humbled by her experiences, Barbara Gemar lives in the foothills of Southeastern Appalachia where the surrounding beauty constantly soothes her spirit.
