FBC Technology and the Environmental Challenge

This work is the result of an international conference on fluidized bed combustion, a technology developed to meet the environmental challenge for energy generation. At a time when the damaging impact of fossil fuel consumption on the eco-systems of the world is becoming increasingly visible, energy generation systems with positive environmental effects are being encouraged for both industrial and domestic applications. The contributions to this volume have been divided into sections on fluidization fundamentals, emissions performance and advanced cycles. The development and demonstration of systems with good environmental performance for both industrial and utility applications, and the current international development programmes for advanced high efficiency coal fluidized bed utility systems are examined in detail.
