Ferroelectric materials have applications ranging from memories, capacitors, sensors and actuators, optical switches and infrared detectors. These materials can exist as single crystals, thin polycrystalline films or organic polymers. This book is a combination of articles/review papers based on oxides, polymers and composite ferroelectric materials.Chapters 1-7 describe various ways of synthesizing lead containing and lead free ferroelectric oxides and single crystals. Their electrical and optical properties are discussed in detail. Chapters 8-10 focus on the emission properties of ferroelectric organics and their application in liquid crystal displays which is an important display technology in todays world. Chapters 11-15 describe various models by which charge transport in ferroelectric materials can be investigated. Impedance spectroscopy which is a commonly employed technique to understand charge transport in metal oxides is also introduced in chapter 12. Chapters 16-20 include miscellaneous topics of ferroelectric materials such as ferroelectric liquid crystals, multiferroic composite materials, interaction of ferroelectric materials with synchrotron light and application of ferroelectric ceramics in high energy density capacitors.
