The book provides an outline of relevant electromagnetics and finite element basics, followed by a discussion of the principles of modelling electrical power equipment. It gives many examples of the use of finite element methods to aid designers of electrical machines, transformers, and high voltage equipment, based on the authors' industrial experience. The main aim of the book is to give the reader a physical rather than mathematical understanding behind the inite element method. This is supported by a detailed description of modelling techniques to enable an accurate solution to be obtained with minimum cost and effort.
