Fire Rider

Young Jaron is a rider of the kelpra, predators as big as a cart horse trained for elite racing in the city of Tiara. He will get on the back of those dangerous beasts but wants nothing to do with the Raken and their huge flying dragons (known as firedrake), when they arrive at the city, and with good reason. Everyone thinks it was a wild ‘drake that razed his village to the ground that terrifying night over a year ago, and he still bears the scars. But the Raken are the protectors of the land and Jaron can’t be certain if he saw a rider that terrible moonless night. He does his best to avoid any contact with them, even if young Raken rider, Flick, is intent on trying to be his friend, and the Lord of the Raken himself has noticed Jaron’s mother. After everything they have been through, Jaron will do anything to protect her, even if she doesn’t think she needs it. All this, and he’s busy trying to get ready for the biggest, most dangerous ride of his young career. Then events transpire to force Jaron closer to the Raken. His path is set on a journey born of fire where he must try to put his past behind him and find the courage to touch the sky…
