We all make such beautiful messes of our lives. No one knows this better than Emma Connolly, who has seen her promise as a surrealist painter disappear down a decade-long rabbit hole of soul-crushing McJobs, stagnant relationships, and paralyzing self-doubt. Her ironic sense of humor, along with video games and exquisite weed, are the only things that seem to keep her afloat.

With great reluctance, Emma decides to attend her ten-year high school reunion, where she reconnects with her former BFF, as well as her favorite teacher. The evening leads to a surprising-and very strange-renewed bond that Emma never could have envisioned. What follows sets off a series of personal changes as she embarks on a project to reclaim her life.
