It's 2701 and the praenex-the new human species trying to save a dying Earth-braces for civil war. Now everyone expects Eddie LeRoux-powerful cleric and renowned daughter of the planet's most famous power-couple-to accept her appointed role as spiritual leader and don the symbolic red sash of the Gran Bozan. But the magnetic Ambassador Cai Varela convinces her that she alone could save his people from a devastating disease rapidly wiping them out. She agrees to join him on an urgent secret mission to faraway Chileru.

Avoiding the attention of SciCorps troops proves more dangerous than Eddie and Cai anticipated. Her mission team is smart, strong, and possess powerful mental gifts, but that won't be enough to keep them safe. They need a leader. When their plane crashes in a storm-thrashed desert wasteland, it's up to Eddie to ensure they survive.
