Psychological studies about optimism X pessimism need to be revised; because people are not necessarily pessimistic-projecting the worst outcome about life. They may be, less optimistic, but not necessarily pessimistic. This research shows how four constructs of time optimism (blindness, fatalism, resilience, and transformation), can reflect different patterns of students' engagement in the process of schooling. Their success depends on how hopeful they are; to believe in themselves and their ability to generate knowledge. We live in challenging times of corporate power and hegemonic structures of white patriarchal unregulated global capitalism, where only those who dare to hope can transcend the existing daunting false evidence of hopelessness. After all to live is to wrestle with hopelessness, yet never to allow it to have the last word. It is by breaking through time constraints and hopelessness that we are free to go about the world, more hopeful, and with knowledge based on existential and concrete imperative that we can indeed transform social realities for the better; to then love and bypass our human limitations and biases in order to be happy, joyous and free.
