Fostering Kinship

This is a collection of papers drawing on the experience of fostering children within their extended family network, within various national contexts. The book aims to focus practitioner's attention on a crucial and developing practice issue. It offers some models of positive work, along with some of the complexities involved and gives foster carers and young people a voice so that practice is informed by an understanding of their experiences. The book provides justification for this pattern of work which is rooted in research into its effectiveness in meeting children's needs. Issues are placed in the wider international context of developing social policy, changing ideology and social change.
