He developed a new vision of human existence that undermined the cultural values of his time, which initially provoked great hostility. But as psychoanalysis spread, Freud gained followers worldwide.

His name today is synonymous with the study of the mind: an indissoluble association thanks to his pioneering research on the unconscious and sexuality, among other topics. Although several of his theoretical foundations have been questioned by recent findings in neuroscience and human behavior, his contributions to universal culture are undeniable.
