Simple, real and profound - "The message is simple and yet profound, without rhetoric and presumptions. It takes you to a real experience with Jesus Christ. I identify myself with many of the author's' experiences, and the pages of this book spoke directly to my soul." Dayse M.D. Healing for my wounds - "I have no words to express how much "From Poverty to Power" has helped me. Thank God for this book that spoke deep into my heart and brought me to understand the purpose of life." F. Bralha In 1956, Juscelino Kubitschek was elected president of Brazil and decided to build a new capital for the country. Brasília was built in 41 months, from 1956 to April 21, 1960, when it was officially inaugurated. As the nation's leadership was undergoing a very unstable transition, the Men's National Football Team was enjoying great success. Having been victorious at the 1958 World Cup in Sweden, the Brazilian squad traveled to Chile in 1962 World Cup final. Surprise finalist Czechoslovakia was beaten by the Brazilian team and Brazil claimed its second world championship. In the midst of political instability, economic turmoil, and euphoric and illusory soccer pride, a large part of society was living in extreme poverty and great fear for the country's future. During this time a Brazilian couple born in the countryside got married in a small village. Illiterates, both were descendants of European immigrants (Portuguese and German). They worked for farmers in the region and after Adauto, the third child was born, the family decided to leave the quasi-slavery situation, in an adventure that would take them to different states of the nation, seeking a better future for their children. Adauto was two years old when his parents arrived in Muriae, a town of approximately forty thousand people, where they lived for six months, and for the next seven years, they traveled thousands of miles to one city after another. The young Brazilian will share much more of his journey from his teenage years into his adulthood of the many challenges, hurts, broken relationships and adventures. Through his writings, the reader will see how he got the answer for many questions of his life that took him from the road of poverty to victory. Undoubtedly, this book will help millions who are emotionally broken, walking in the road of a shortage of bread, love, acceptance, forgiveness and purpose to a new direction of hope, light, inner peace, self-esteem, and joy. Forward A Blessed Beginning! I am honoured and happy for the opportunity to write the introductory note to this promising book. Whoever knows Adauto Rezende, knows that I have strong reasons to make such a statement. In 1998 in the city of Toronto, where I first met him, the believers respected him as a man of God and admired him for his faithful and true testimony. With his clear vision of what to say and perfect coordination of his thought processes, he places himself, with this first literary work, among Brazil's main religious authors. We live in a religious society where our critics attack us in this very area of our knowledge, judging and condemning us, and falsely accusing us of not being thinkers. Some critics sour and ill-mannered, even call us narrow-minded in our opinions, as if we don't know how to think outside of the box. I cannot but congratulate your extraordinary boldness in revealing your testimony that only true possessors of rare courage would care to do. I am proud to be able to contribute, even humbly, to the birth of this publication and its accomplishment, and I give you a hearty welcome to the literary world. Paulo Ventura - Doctor in divinity
