Gustav Randolphe is a young Haitian man who moves to Ottawa,Ontario, after the 2010 Earthquake which devasted his homeland, killing many. In spite of being a penniless refugee claimant, he works two jobs and enrolls at Carleton University, where he meets a woman who changes his life. Tall and athletic blonde beauty Tess Van Dijke was born and raised in Durban, South Africa, and eagerly explores life as an international student in the Canadian Capital. She finds herself intrigued by the tall, quietly intense young man from the Caribbean. Gustav and Tess's mutual fascination turns into attraction. They're from completely different worlds, her parents in RSA are not okay with interracial romance, and he's got the xenophobic Canadian government breathing down his neck. Does their budding romance stand a chance ?
