From the Other Side

Often unutterably sad and intensely moving, the story of Marta, a young German girl born at the wrong time, ultimately transcends the details of the individual to bear testimony to the strength and beauty of the human spirit. Overcoming obstacle after obstacle - divorce, parental abandonment, hand-to-mouth poverty, the suicide of a sibling, the bombing of her home and her own poor health - Marta is cleansed by the love of a British soldier, but the British are the enemy, aren't they.?
