Alexander Stoddard Frankson was born in 1913 in Shenton, Bog Walk, St. Catherine, Jamaica. He was educated at Mico Teacher Training College and the University of London Institute of Education. After two years of primary school teaching, in 1937, he began his service with the government of Belize. He became an education officer, district commissioner and permanent secretary, before retiring in 1969. From there, he joined the U.S. Peace Corps and became director of the program in 1970, and deputy director in Jamaica in 1976. In 1975, he received the Director's Award for Exceptional International Service. Secretary Frankson is a citrus grower in Belize and has two sons and a daughter. This first collected volume of verse touches on themes related to his personal experiences and philosophy, his penchant for travel, and his reading across a wide variety of disciplines.
