From There on Downhill

The title "From there on Downhill" stems from one bad decision the main character (Lineath) made that seemed to set the foundation of consecutive bad happenings in her life. The other significant aspect in this novel is Lineath's mentality or mindset. She seems to have certainty about things that she keeps justifying that her Mother has taught her. Lineath has had an attraction to much older men. She aims to find one to marry her for her to be the housewife of his dreams (something that links to what her Mother has taught her). She does achieve her goal but then it turns out that Man is a polygamist, a lifestyle she does not want a part in. However, with this man, she has already brought a child into his world when finding out completely what his life consists of. Her strain with this Man causes a distance between her and her baby. A distance that not even by the end of this writing piece, has been fixed. Lineath is then forced to start taking care of herself. She does this in two ways. One gets a job and the other engages in an activity with various older men. During this time, she experiences a lot of losses. She also, already at this point experiences regret of choices she has made. She now does seeks stability which she finds when meeting Felix Heaver. Oddly, a young Man closer to her age. But she was wrong in her thinking, as Felix's life comes with another set of drama. Lineath ultimately ends up alone, regretful but still very much caught up in a disturbing mindset.
