At sixteen, Amy is fearful of the life she will soon introduce her unborn child to. So, she runs, packing her childhood into her high school backpack. Although afraid of what her future will entail, she remains determined to do things her own way and not give in to the demands of her ex-boyfriend, Tommy.

Unexpected support arrives when a family Amy doesn't even know takes her under their wing and offers her a place to stay. She gradually flourishes in her newfound life and, though she continues to battle fear and low self-esteem, she thrives in her new role as a mother.

But her world flips again when Tommy reappears and demands custody of their daughter, leaving Amy devastated. Desperate for love and peace, she is drawn into a relationship and soon becomes tangled in his web of deceit, falling back into a life she thought she'd left behind.
