Frost, a magical black-and-white collie with bright sky-blue eyes, belongs to St. Nick (also known as Santa Claus) who just moved into the forest. After hearing about a Christmas tree town called White Winter in the center of the North Pole, he decided it was the perfect place to start production on children's toys with the elves who lived in the Forest. Frost has been with St. Nick for a very long time, and together they have traveled the world, gifting presents to all of the good children. As more children behave and the demand for toys grew, St. Nick needed something more permanent but secluded from the eyes of all humans.

Firefrost and Frostyivy, two twin sister elves who live in the largest of the Christmas trees, are the guardians of the Christmas Tree Spirit, a magical spirit who lives in the tree with them, guarding the elf community against all humans. The Christmas Tree Spirit is also responsible for lighting the North Star on each Christmas Eve.

But the North Pole is a dangerous place as the Children of Winter, the wild wolves, prowl the landscape, searching for food. St. Nick has a mission, but so does Frost. For while St. Nick is busy with the building of his new toy factory, Frost has been busy rescuing the orphaned animals of these wild wolf attacks since he arrived.

St. Nick has no time for the baby animals, but the elf sisters do. In Frost's head, he has a purpose to bring together these eleven orphaned animal babies for one magical purpose; and he is counting on Firefrost, Frostyivy, and the Christmas Tree Spirit to help guard his master's secret from the world of all humans.
