Genderstanding Jesus

In a world that is increasingly linking faith to social, economic, cultural and political inequality, and often holds religion responsible for gender inequality, Genderstanding Jesus asks a thought-provoking question: "What would Jesus do about gender relations?"

Genderstanding Jesus examines the lives of women from His View. It reveals the many instances in which Jesus directly addressed women's subjugation and suffering. Moreover, it documents Jesus' tendency to break through social, cultural and religious traditions to exonerate, liberate and empower women. It challenges the Christian community to do as Jesus did!



Author Meryl James-Sebro, Ph.D., a Christian development anthropologist, warns of the danger in society of relying on male-dominated or gender neutral interpretations of God's Word. She urges a more genderstood look at the Life and MInistry of Jesus, and the way in which He valued, respected, honoured, defended and promoted women's interests as a model for contemporary Christianity.
