The Cork-born poet Gregory O'Donoghue (1951-2005) was one of the gifted generation of poets which emerged in Cork in the 1970s, encouraged by John Montague, Sean Lucy and others. This posthumous third collection of O'Donoghue's poems show him to have been a gifted poet of "spare exquisite expression" as his friend, the poet Maurice Riordan, writes in a foreword to this book. Smybolically-charged and gently probing, these are, by any standard, fine poems, and poems which will be read for many years to come.
