Globalization, Health and Human Rights

In this textbook on global health, with a focus on the role of globalization on public health, we are able to appreciate the monumental benefits and the limitations of this international momentum. According to President William Jefferson Clinton, and Mr. Kofi Annan, the former Secretary General of United Nations, the force of globalization is so huge that there is not one nation that can impede the trajectory and impact of globalization. In economic terms, globalization is the system of interaction, intermingling among nations of the world to develop common patterns of global economy. This book takes a multicultural, solution-oriented approach to health problems worldwide. It provides readers with comprehensive, contemporary information on the relationships among poverty, population increases, socioeconomic status, education, and health. Globalization, Health, and Human Rights provides a global vision of health within the context of culture, economy, politics, and human ecological science. In an effort to meet the academic cultural pluralism requirement in the United States, this book emphasizes specific health problems of Asian-Americans, African-Americans, European- Americans, Hispanic-Americans, and American Indians. The book will create awareness of the nature of health problems worldwide, how they relate and how we should view them, and what can be done about them.
